With a few delicious exceptions, we’ve given ‘natural wines’ a wide berth since they first became a thing 10 years or so ago. Admirable intentions aren’t enough to create good wines and we’ve tasted too many shockers to be convinced about the genre. There’s also an issue with lack of certification. However, when trusted suppliers like Jacques Frelin, who has been with us from the very beginning, dip their toe in the water with a delicious Merlot like this one, we’re interested.
Showing the typical vibrant vivacity of a good natural red, this has a nice reddish-purple colour. The nose is complex with black fruit and spice and in the mouth it’s rich and full with soft tannins. It’s also certified biodynamic and made without any added sulphur of course. Great with Parma ham, both meat or veggie burgers and a barbecue.
ABV 13.50%
